Installation & Configuration

Configurating Jupyter Notebook

Jupyter Notebook is included with Anaconda by default. If you have installed Anaconda correctly, only the following steps remain.

Make sure Jupyter uses the shared data folder.

  1. Create a dedicated folder on Z: (your workspace data drive), e.g. Z:\JupyterNotebook.

  2. In the Start menu, find the program Jupyter Notebook (Anaconda3), then right-click and select Open file location (A).

  3. In the File Explorer, right-click Jupyter Notebook (Anaconda3) and select Properties (B).

  4. In the Properties window under the tab Shortcut, make the following changes (C):

    • Target: C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\python.exe C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\cwp.py C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3 C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3\Scripts\jupyter-notebook-script.py "Z:\JupyterNotebook"

    • Start in: "Z:\JupyterNotebook"

    • Press OK to save changes

  5. Make sure the shortcut is available to all users, e.g. by putting it on the shared desktop

Jupyter is a web-based program that will automatically start in your default browser. It is known that Internet Explorer might fail to open Jupyter Notebook, so make sure to change your default browser to, for example, Google Chrome. This is a personal setting that must be changed by each individual user of the virtual machine.

  1. In the virtual machine, go to the default apps overview (e.g., by typing default apps in the Start menu).

  2. Under Web browser, select Chrome
